After a busy few weeks of Welcome Events, the Venues Team and I are happy to be getting settled down into regular activities. Our returning students may have noticed a few changes around our Venues compared to last year! Since 2019, the Union has seen a period of progression with our Back to Basics strategy. Unfortunately, this wasn’t always seen throughout our Venues, especially due to the impact of COVID. This year we are dedicated to getting our Venues Back to Basics, and building our team to be bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.
Every year on World Mental Health Day, global efforts come together to take action to improve well-being and make mental health a global priority. I believe that, as students and members of the university community, we can create change by starting small...ensuring to make students' mental health a priority at Imperial!
Last Tuesday, you might have been one of the thousands of students who came down to South Kensington campus and delighted in a sea of sweets, music, vintage cars and the odd plane or two. Sadly, this isn’t just an average weekday. The Welcome Fair is one of the biggest events of the year – and 2022 was back with a bang after Covid!

Since I started at Imperial 4 years ago, Imperial College Union has been lacking its own identifiable night…until now! On Wednesday 12 October we are launching DECIBEL!
I’m Niamh, your Deputy President (Finance & Services). I was elected by the student body to represent you by ensuring our services, like our bars and shops, remain student focused.
As it’s the halfway point in my tenure as Deputy President (Welfare), I wanted to take the time to share what an incredible year it has been and show my gratitude to all of you who have been part of this journey. While there are a lot of things I’m proud of achieving this past year, my standards for the upcoming year remain higher than ever.
Being Deputy President (Finance & Services) has been one of the most exciting, challenging and emotional experiences of my life. I've grown and developed significantly over the past two years and I'm incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity. The Officer Trustee roles are an incredible life learning and building experience and I encourage everyone to consider running to be an OT.
As my year as Deputy President (Clubs and Societies) comes to a close, I have been reflecting on how much has changed in the past year. When I came into the role, COVID restrictions and the changes to them defined society activity. Now, we are pretty much back to normal – and I’d like to think this normal looks better than before.
The last twelve months have seen a profound change in Imperial College Union, Imperial College, and the world of Education. Still, the day-to-day impact I have had on students' learning experiences has kept me motivated, excited, and humbled to be your elected Deputy President (Education).
