COVID-19 Information

You’re about to embark on an amazing journey at Imperial College. As your Union, your safety is our top priority. Over the next few months, you’re likely to be attending lots of in-person events in our venues, socialising and making new friends from all over the world. This is an important part of your student experience, and we’re here to ensure you are able to do this safely.

On 14 September 2021 the government released their COVID-19 Response – Autumn and Winter Plan 2021. This plan did not introduce any new restrictions that impact our venues and Welcome 2021 events. We have reviewed our venues and events in line with this plan;

  • There are no restrictions on our members attending our venues, other than those required to isolate.
  • Our venues are able to operate at full capacity.
  • Our venues will be risk assessed specifically for COVID-19 and the appropriate measures will be taken to mitigate the risk of transmission, to include; maximising airflow around our venues, our customer-facing staff will be required to wear face coverings indoors (unless exempt), increased sanitisation of all surfaces, and encourage all our students, guests, and staff to wear face coverings when moving around our building.
  • If any of our staff test positive, or are a close contact, they will isolate under general COVID-19 regulations.

Full government guidance can be found here.

The Imperial College website has information on their rules and expectations for COVID-19. If you need information COVID-19 requirements and support for students in halls of residence, including what to do if you think you may have COVID-19 or if you test positive while living in halls, click here.

If you are new to London or have recently returned you can find Transport for London’s guidance here. In summary, you are required to wear a mask when using public transport unless exempt for medical reasons.

We are aware that things may change over the coming months. The government announcement on 14 September mentioned that they will review and implement restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19 should hospital numbers and pressure on the NHS significantly increase. We will update our advice accordingly.
