Happy Spring everyone! We hope you’ve had a well-rested (and well-deserved) break!
As another term passes, we wanted to take this chance to share our biggest achievements and progress from the past few months, and to take a sneak peek into Summer Term!
Sustainability
London Student Sustainability Conference
Stephanie has successfully hosted and organised the sixth London Student Sustainability Conference at Imperial in collaboration with 9 other London universities.
Check out the coverage of the conference in Felix!
Divestment
Camille has reconvened the College’s SRI working group to work on improving the College’s SRI Policy, including lobbying for full divestment as called for by Union Council.
If you would like to see the College divest from fossil fuels, help build our case and evidence for students wanting change and sign this open letter & petition started by Imperial Climate Action!
Union Sustainability Plan
Camille & Stephanie have been typing away to flesh out a detailed framework for the Union Sustainability Plan, with the aim of delivering it in 24/25.
PGR support
PGR Supervision
Yi has been collecting feedback from our PGR students to refine the mutual expectation document with the aim to ensure better supervisory support for our PGR students.
On top of that, Yi wants to hear more from our PGR students about how we can better improve PGR supervision experience for our students. Please do take part in the workshop on 19 April at 12-2PM to share your experience
Cost of Living for PGRs
Andreea has been investigating the costs associated with the PGR experience alongside the teams at the Graduate School, Student Finance and PGR Representation Chair.
Club & Societies Funding & Performance
Sports at Imperial
Christian has been redeveloping a joint-delivery model on sports for our students to ensure sports improved accessibility and support for our CSPs.
Annual Budgeting
Christian & Stephanie are working closely with CSPB (Clubs, Societies & Projects Board) to work through annual budgeting & grant allocation for our CSPs. Initial grant allocations are due to be released in May alongside an appeals process.
Looking forward...
Union Awards
We have had the pleasure of working alongside many extraordinary student volunteers as Officers, and we hope you will join us in recognising all your peers that have been working hard to improve the student experience at Imperial! Nominate a student/staff today, nominations close on April 22!
Mental Health Awareness Week
As exams loom across May and June, take a second to avoid the feeling of doom! There will be many walks, talks & workshops between 13-17 May available for you to join, so take the chance to put your mental health first during this stressful period.
Summer Ball
Tickets are selling fast! Stephanie & the Events Team have been working closely with our students to shape this year’s Summer Ball, so you really don’t want to miss out on the best Summer Ball yet! Get your tickets today.
We wish you all the best with your upcoming assessments and deadlines, and we hope you’ll take the time to enjoy the longer days and summer sun, and maybe we’ll see you at our bars for some refreshing drinks (both alcoholic & non-alcoholic)!
