Following the Club, Society & Projects Culture Review last year, various long-term goals were set out to improve the culture and experience of students at Imperial College Union. One of the top goals was to improve support by creating a fund to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in high-cost activities.
Thanks to some incredible work by Dylan (DPCS, 2022-23) last year, and the continued work of your Officer Trustees and Union Staff teams, today we can introduce the Student Experience Fund.
What is the fund?
The Student Experience Fund enables students to take part in activities and events at Imperial College Union which would otherwise be inaccessible due to cost.
Every eligible student will receive an amount which can be used on:
- Club, Society & Project Memberships
- Club, Society & Project Events/Products/Kit
- Union Events (such as Welcome or Summer Ball)
Recipients of the highest bursary amount will receive enough funding to cover over 98% of CSP memberships!
A large amount of funding has been kindly provided by Imperial College and the Imperial College Trust, without whom this wouldn’t be possible.
How do I access it?
All eligible students will receive the funds automatically as credit on their Union account, and will be able to use this at checkout instead of a credit/debit card. See the eligibility criteria.
The future
This is the very first year of the fund and as such there will undoubtedly be an adjustment period, but we hope that this marks the first big step in the direction of better supporting students.
The long-term goal is to refine this fund to not only include bursary recipients, but all those who are less able to partake in student activities.
If you have any feedback on how the fund is working, or any recommendations for the future, you can fill out this anonymous form.
Where can I find out more?
We’ve created a website page to explain the fund in detail, which can be found here.
